Brentwood High School’s Katherine Hall and Battle Ground
Academy’s Trey Moon have been selected as the Williamson
Herald/John Maher Builders Scholar Athletes of the month for
November.
Hall is a recent signee with Furman after
contributing heavily to the success of the Lady Bruins
volleyball team. “Katherine Hall is a leader both on and
off the court and balances a very busy schedule which
includes year-round volleyball, church commitments and
school,” said Coach Barbara Campbell in her nomination of
Hall. “She is a senior at Brentwood High School where she
plays volleyball and carries a full academic load with
multiple AP courses, as well as serving in various leadership
capacities.”
The word leader is mentioned again and
again when referring to Hall, the daughter of Tim and Laurie
Hall. At BHS, Katherine is co-president of the Fellowship of
Christian Athletes and has served on the FCA leadership team
for two years prior. She is a member of Phi Lambda Sigma, a
girls’ service organization, and serves as a freshman mentor.
She participates in the Chamber Singers and actively pursues
her gift of art.
“On the court, Katherine, is a born
leader,” she said. “The example she sets with her work ethic,
enthusiasm, dedication and committment is difficult to
match.”
Hall also takes her leadership skills into the
community. A member of First Baptist Church Nashville, she
sings in the youth choir and Prima Voce girls ensemble and
plays in the handbell ensemble. She has participated in
multiple tours and mission trips, the most recent being a
weeklong Habitat for Humanity building project in New Orleans.
“She has a passion for sharing her faith to those
around her and making an impact on her world,” Campbell
said. The Battle Ground Academy may have only had one win
on the gridiron this season, but Coach Tim Johnson is
extremely proud of the effort put forth by Trey Moon. Playing
wide receiver on offense and defensive back on the flip side,
Moon played on every special teams unit, Johnson
said.
Maintaining a 2.3 grade point average, the senior
had 13 tackles this season, two pass break ups on defense. On
offense, he had nine receptions, averaging 14 yards per
reception, according to Johnson.
“Trey is a senior and
has been an excellent leader and play maker for BGA this
season,” Johnson said. “He plays with great enthusiasm for the
game and his teammates.
Moon served as a game captain
and practiced with a great work ethic and attitude, Johnson
said. He is the son of Kathy and Eddie Moon.
