John Maher

After growing up in Cincinnati, Ohio, John Maher came to Middle Tennessee State University on a football scholarship in 1972. After graduation from MTSU he began a ten-year career in education, teaching and coaching in middle school in the Franklin Special School District.

During his tenure in education John moonlighted in real estate and began reading about how to be his own contractor. He soon invested in some property in southern Williamson County, formed his own company and began building and selling homes.

Since 1985 John Maher Builders, Inc. (JMB) has built more than 1,500 homes in middle Tennessee, the majority in the Spring Hill community, and future plans are to build many more.

John Maher Builders is consistently ranked among the Nashville area's and the nation's fastest growing homebuilders. Under John's guidance JMB has been a prosperous and award winning organization. In 2007 the company was honored with a prestigious Best in Business Award from the Nashville Business Journal. John was also recognized in 2005 by the Nashville Business Journal as a member of "The Williamson 25", honoring 25 individuals who most influence business in Williamson County, Tenn. And, readers of the former Review Appeal in Williamson County voted John Maher Builders "Williamson County's Favorite Builder" for four straight years.

John and his wife Margie have proudly called Williamson County home for more than 25 years. They live in Brentwood where children Jennifer, Kathleen and Jack attend Williamson County Public Schools. Daughter Beth recently graduated from Duke University.
